I recently emailled Lidl about the change from weekend half price to pick of the week offers. Particularly about the wider range of products that where in the weekend offers. I got the following bland statement back :

"
Re: Half Price Weekend Promotions
Thank you for contacting us regarding the above.
I can confirm that we are no longer offering Half Price Weekend promotions in our stores. Alternatively, we will now be offering our 'pick of the week'. This offer includes a selection of items from our fruit and vegetables and meat lines which will be reduced, offering our customers savings for the full week.
I apologise for any disappointment this offer coming to an end causes you. Your comments regarding this matter have been noted with the relevant department.
I hope you will remain a valued Lidl customer.
Yours sincerely,
For and on behalf of Lidl UK GmbH

I personally think pick of the week offers are much fairer to the majority of their customers. Popular weekend offers were often sold out by 9.30am Saturday morning I found.

As pick of the week offers mean people don't have to try to get to the store only on Sat. or Sun , it must make life a bit easier for those who have no option, due to full time work commitments, to shop at the weekends. Especially seeing that people such as myself who no longer work can now avoid using the store at the weekend & get what we want during weekdays, so the queues are not quite as bad as they once were.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

One of my points I tried to make to them was the lack of variety in pick of the week that made weekend offers so good
e.g no crisps , chocolate , cakes etc etc

They failled totally to answer that part of my email

Personally, I much preferred half price weekends to current pick of the week. Since they stopped, I no longer shop at Lidl. For me, pick of the week is just money off deals and nothing more. I have emailed Lidl to express my disappointment.

i like the change.......personally i found myself buying "naughty" treats just cos they were cheap...
the new offers have made it easier to resist temptation!!
the quality is pretty good on the fruit and veg and it lasts well so i tend to stock up on those offer
for a few weeks ahead or use it for batch cooking and freeze stuff.
but i can understand people being disappointed...there were some great deals before!!

3 or 4 weekend special offers now not available make you not shop at Lidl? OTT much?

Weekly offers for me are great- 6 or 7 weekly deals and found more meat/fish in them and they run all week = I can go in at a more convinent time through the week than find some 30 min window on a busy weekend.

On top of that the XXL periods every so often are superb with their Beef joint so good for its money, or the huge shower gels and baby wipe packs.
    PK! :money:

good business , its lured people in with the 1/2 offers that are now offered on a pick of the week they have gained 1000s more customers who will continue to shop regardless of offers

Not me. I would go in because of the weekend offers and do the weekly shop at the same time. Now there's no reason to go there, Aldi I think is better on balance.
