GE Capital Store Cards

Hello,

I've been very successful with several different PPI claims (seems I always signed up!) and the only ones left that I have not pursued are the store cards that I took out in my student days. I had cards with New Look, Top Shop, House of Fraser, Debenhams and House of Fraser. By going through old bank statements I've found the direct debits/ account numbers for 2 x payments to GE capital bank (the debenhams and river island cards) which I'm going to try my luck with by contacting Santander who I understand bought the company but is there any way of getting hold of account info for the others. They were all GE capital bank accounts. Unfortunately I remember my earlier ones I used to make payments using the payment slip rather than direct debit so don't think I'll be able to find references via bank statements. Had considered trying a reclaim company for these but wondered if it would be possible to do it myself (as I have with all others).

Thanks in advance

NewDay now own the old GE/Santander portfolio.

A claims company won't be able to find your old paperwork any easier than you. You probably don't want them rummaging around in your cupboards anyway.

A claims company rely on you providing the details of the accounts and paperwork (they don't have any access to these, your information is not in the public domain) - do it yourself as you'll do all the work yourself and lose a huge chunk of refund if you use a claims firm - they literally do nothing you cannot do yourself (especially if you have done claims before)

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Yes, it seems many students from around 2000 onwards, took out store cards with the then Arcadia Group (Top Shop, Dorothy Perkins, Burtons, etc).

The Santander > FOS > Genworth route is proving successful at the moment.

Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.
