This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone.
Low white cloud outside, can't see the weather being as bright as yesterday though it feels milder.
I really enjoyed the tour of one of Glasgow's stations, we went right down to the old Victorian platforms and heard a host of history about the place.
By the time I did various jobs for mum (changing bedsheets, new printer cartridges and so on) it was nearly three o'clock. I had a really lovely drive home, Loch Lomond was like glass so the mountains were reflected - double beauty.
Today I'm going to try Tai Chi for the first time, at last I've found a class. There's not too good a marketing process here, seems it's just word of mouth.
After a very slight cake -shaped hiccup in the BSD regime on Wednesday I refused all pressure to take cake home with me. Just for that display of little known will power I deserve a halo. :rotfl:
Now playing need to start my day - I hope everyone has a good Friday.0 -
Morning all,
Thanks for starting us off Gers, very cold here again and foggy I hope it clears up a bit throughout the day.
Off to work today and working at the weekend so cant even have a lay in tomorrowbut never mind I have Monday off.
Takeaway for dinner tonight will see what we fancy later on, and I need to do a wash tonight too (more work t shirts)
Evie continues to be delightful she is really settling well, and starting to play a lot, she is enjoying her walks and plays with any dog who is willing !
Right better get on have good days all xx0 -
Good morning all,
Thank you Gers for starting us off, and very well done on the will power. Your drive home sounds wonderful, you are very lucky to live where you do, although I know the weather isn't always that good.
It is very foggy here at the moment, but Carol Kirkwood assures us it should be clear by around 9.am.
we are off to town this morning and will drop DGD1 off at work when we get there. I want to pop into Wilkos for a couple of lampshades and some paint. Our new stair carpet looks lovely, and feels good underfoot. I want a couple of white lampshades for the hall and landing. At present we have uplighters which actually make the stairs look quite dark, not having a window there.
The paint I need is for a little project I have in mind in the kitchen to re-use a pine unit, I just want to paint it the same colour. as the kitchen units .
Will do our shop tomorrow, but to be honest we don't need much, mainly fresh fruit and veg and milk and some meat for the weekend.
Lyn I hope He Who Knows is feeling a little better today, there are some very nasty viruses around at the moment, I hope it doesn't linger too long.
Have a good weekend all

Morning
Grey here and just starting to rain, still we've had a good run of sunny weather with lots of washing dried outside!
Early finish (3pm) for me today, one of my colleagues has been off sick for a couple of days so extra busy. Need to go to the credit union after work, going to withdraw my money and put it elsewhere, not sure where though but I'm sure I can get a little interest somewhere. I was meant to go on Tuesday but it closes before I finish work.
No washing till tonight, big clean later too, the bathrooms need doing and as the hoover bits are dry after their wash I'll throw that around too.
Happy Friday. Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone,
Foggy, frosty and cold out but we are meant to have some sunshine later.
Day off today so will go food shopping this morning, just fruit and veg really so won't take long. Then am off to Cambridge for a haircut, much needed as even though I keep it short my hair is very thick and needs thinning, have tried to do it myself but the results were horrendous so it's something don't mind spending on.
Gers. - enjoy your Tai chi
RR. - good to hear Evie is enjoying life so much
Have a good day everyone, take care x0 -
Morning all, a bit damp and Dreary here.
I am going to the dentist later, it is miles away on the other side of this big city and I have managed to wrench my shoulder. I have done this cleverly by sitting down with a cup of tea. It does hurt a lot. Will mend itself I hope as tge day goes on.
If the courtesy car gets here by the time I need to leave, m y
OH will take me to the bus stop. Otherwise it is a walk.
The spacing has gone funny, not sure why.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all,
Spoke to DD yesterday, can,t believe is half way through her trip already! We,ve booked to collect her, due to flight times and our rubbish ferry times we have to stay over, the night before she arrives (7am) - on the up side, at least it means we can stop off for the 'full English' she,s been craving LOL
Going to take some 'me time' today, do my nails, my hair and have a little pamper - that's if DS lets me, he,s getting mildly stressed about uni, and wants me to plan his new world with military precision 6 months in advance - he,s not even had his place confirmed yet, or knows where he will be allocated halls - bless him.. I,ve told him we will be there to help him and it will be fine, but he likes things planned - no idea where he gets that from
Have a fab day all xNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Good Morning everyone, foggy here first thing too but beginning to lift now and weather forecast is for dry but cloudy so it could be worse. Having to stay in this morning for a delivery so I'll be houseworking and He Who Knows is currently sounding like a seal when he coughs. DD1 who he was up with told us last night that there are quite a few confirmed H1N1 cases in the area and some pupils amongst them so I'm watching him carefully although he doesn't have the fever or aching joints that normally accompany flu proper. We're due to be just a tad warmer today up to 8 or 9 degrees which will be pleasant, I'm fed up with being cold.
I'm getting slightly concerned about some developments in the village, our local council have to put in 2,500 new homes as part of this government directive and there has been tree clearance going on in many of the fields and on the footpaths where I walk the dogs. No planning notices up yet but I was told the other day that another local council has approved a 2,500 house development between two close by villages which will impact greatly on traffic levels on the main road which is already grid locked at peak flow times. We've also been told that part of the university which is situated in the village is being consolidated with the university in Southampton, they will keep waterside facilities here but the considerable swatch of land and student accommodation here will then be sold off for building. The worry is that there is no intimation of more infrastructure additions like doctors surgeries, schools and dentists practises, the roads are already very busy and there is nowhere to build more shopping outlets or garages which will be sorely needed for that amount of new housing. Seriously concerned about the future here.
The sun is breaking through, hoorah!!! Have yourselves a nice day everyone, Lyn xxx.0 -
Morning all. I'm late logging on this morning as the 3 girls were up ridiculously early and have lead me a right merry dance ever since! Mr TA has just set off on the school run with them and I have collapsed with a strong coffee!
All went well at the Oncology clinic yesterday. Train to Leeds on time and caught a bus to the hospital after only a minute's wait. Of course the consultant was running late as usual so got my nose in my book while we waited. Then bloods done, followed by his monthly injection. The Doctor is pleased with how well he is doing after last summer's set back. I just wish the weight would go back on as quickly as it came off him.
Friday is here again and so it's pre-weekend clean up day. After two nights of the DGDs sleeping it so needs a blitz!
Not given a thought to meals for the day, will have a rummage in the freezer shortly! It's promising to be a nice day too, reaching the dizzy heights of 9 deg! Wow! Still a bit foggy here but the sun is supposed to burn through eventually.
Have a good day all (((HUGS))) where wanted needed and take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
The sun has broken through and OH has put my washing out as I can't manage it today.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0
