  • The mortgage when I was with her was with NRAM, we had additional borrowings on top (125%), but I transferred that into a personal loan in my name shortly before we split up as it was a better interest rate.

I currently owe £8,500, but it was more like £12000 at the time

Thats right, we bought before the crash in 2007, it was in negative equity

If the house was in negative equity when she signed her share over to you, then you took on her share of the debt.

If she is looking for a share, then it will be a negative one, based on the negative equity value when the house was transferred to you.

In short, she will owe YOU money!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • Thats the thing though, Im counting the additional borrowings but at the time it wasnt part of the mortgage, so we probably were in equity. We must have been because Im sure my mortgage was 90%.

In reality there was other money owed but legally in my name.
