Combined Parking Solutions took Edward Wales to Glasgow Sheriff Court for 33 unpaid private parking charges and secured a settlement of £3000 plus interest on wednesday the 9th March 2016. So fines are enforceable in Scotland, contrary to the crap spouted on here by varoius know it alls. This forum isn't worth the electric it costs to power my laptop.

  • The more I read about this, the more I think that it was CPS who bottled it (assuming, of course, that it's not a put-up job). If I really thought I could get £5000 pounds, and a real court verdict; then why would I settle for £3000 and no court case?

The only reasonable conclusion that can be drawn is the CPS really didn't think they could win in court.

So much for crowing about enforceable.

    These were not fines.

I don't believe anyone here has said private parking charges in Scotland are not enforceable. They are enforceable but only apply to the driver of a vehicle.
They are not enforceable against the keeper.

So, your statement about crap being spouted on this site is not correct.

You are entitled to your opinion, but personally I have found this site very useful and it has saved me a lot of money; certainly more than the cost of running a laptop.
I married my cousin. I had to...
    I don't have a sister. :D

You need to read the report carefully ..... there was no hearing , it is said it was settled before.

No hearing = no judge/sheriff = no judgement = no case

You have to ask yourself why CPS threw away £2000 if they were that sure they would win. ?

The simple fact as Fruitcake stated
"I don't believe anyone here has said private parking charges in Scotland are not enforceable. They are enforceable but only apply to the driver of a vehicle.
They are not enforceable against the keeper
    ."

And that is why the information here clearly states not to name the driver. Nothing has changed. The PPC's can continue using debt collectors until the cows come home but the debt collector is chasing the keeper and does not know who the driver is. Nor does the PPC .. Something that should be included in English law

The whole story is fishy and people should not take as red what the press report.
Maybe you believe the SUN report that the Queen wants out of the EU ?

    ADVICE IS "WATCH THIS SPACE"
This whole CPS thing sounds like a sting using the scottish courts and if so, this will bite back on CPS IN A BIG WAY
