Gran Canaria, Las Palmas Recommendations

Hi

Not tried asking for this kind of advice on this forum before, but has anyone got and recommendations for Gran Canaria?

We are staying in Las Palmas city, any good restaurant or cocktail bars you would recommend?

We have a car so will travel the island, any must sees/dos?

Also heading to Gran Canaria but staying at the other end (Maspalomas). I guess it depends what you like..Looking at the travek books, Porto Morgan is meant to be pretty and there's a mini submarine for viewing the undersea wildlife. There are camel excursions at Maspalomas so you can release your inner Laurence.

The interior is also meant to be beautiful. We're there for a week and plan to do a day trip to Las Palmas, tour of the interior, one day trip over to Tenerife and possibly Porto Morgan. Marco Polo, Insight and I think DK all have small pocket books on Gran Canaria so may be worth a check as well as Tripadviser for restaurant recommendations.
