Nationwide Mortgage Application - Awful!

Hi,
3 Bedroom Semi Detached House in Hampshire - 400,000
Is anyone going through a mortgage application with Nationwide? Although we're with them currently, they seem to be extremely slow and inefficient at processing or playing nicely this time. Applying through an intermediary, but it seem to be nothing but hassle with the bank at the moment.
We put our offer in at the beginning of Feb and applied a week later. Credit checked for DIP straight away, and then off to admin. There was a technical hiccup that showed double of our credit which was acknowledged and rectified by the BDM. Then there was an administration error, and someone had set up a valuation instead of the valuation + homebuyer, was cancelled without informing me and then set up again for the following week 48 hours later.
Now the Homebuyer report has downvalued the house, I've found comparibles in the area 9 over the last 6-12 months - shame current prices don't work, you can't find anything similar for our offer price or less! Have appealed, and again we will wait. Totally appreciate the surveyor is on our side, but the report scored all 1's.
Utterly disappointed with Nationwide and for the first time I wouldn't recommend them if you're looking to move in this year.

OP was there a port involved?
If there was, it's a paper app and processed differently to everything else.I am a mortgage broker. I have applied to Nationwide via a MB and this happened to me too - I had been chasing as I though the valuation had taken place on the 23rd Feb but it turns out it was cancelled to be rescheduled so that the survey could be done at the same time and now that's not until the 22nd March!!!0 -
Mortgage FTB - thanks, of course there will be a waiting time, but the errors have been more obvious through this process and it's frustrating. In 2014 it went through in 9 days. The SDLT may be a contributing factor, I'm told its a 72-96 hour delay if you send anything at the moment. And yes, I agree he is working for us and not against us and I understand the purpose - but prices for what we are looking at are sitting between 400k-425k in a 3 mile radius. He's a pleasant guy, had a good chat with him, he knows I have appealed, no complaints about the surveyor or countrywide!
It's not a port - we're switching previous product onto one brand new product, moving our current loan into one? If that makes sense. I think that's online?0 -
Your existing mortgage is repaid from the sale proceeds of your current home.
You are taking out a new mortgage for your purchase. It's port if the rate(s) from your existing mortgage are being moved to the new one on completion.
If no port, it is done online. For the last three weeks ports have also been possible online but only if there are less than four sub-accounts being ported.I am a mortgage broker. I found Nationwide brilliant. Dip to offer in three weeks (no one available to come out and value & survey the house for 2 weeks). Also had a direct contact, a lovely lady, cant remember her name now, but she regularly emailed and called me to see how things were going.0

I got my mortgage offer about a month ago from Nationwide. It took around 4 weeks from DIP to Offer. My advice is to chase them if you're not sure what's happening as they often require additional documentation that they won't tell you they want immediately. They have a system that uses 'dependent documents' to go through stages - one change will trigger another document etc. So if you keep on top of them it'll be done quicker
good luck.

Have chased them today, using their dedicated telephone helpline. I have spent a total of 4 hours on the phone - one advisor hung up on me.
They found a template form on my casefile which the fourth customer advisor sent to me via email to fill. I included land registry data on homes sold within 180 days of a similar price etc... Sent that off, called back to make sure the right department had it - has gone through to email inbox, will need to wait till Monday before its looked at. Then up to 7 days from there.
Have made a formal complaint. Perhaps I'm asking for too much information. Thanks to all of your comments so far!0
