Hello.
For over a week i have been getting calls from numbers i don't know.
I have a BT 6500 call guardian phone/answer machine and it blocks calls that are not on your allowed list.
The numbers that are 1061, 1065, 1061 and todays was 1028.
There are only 4 digits long and 1471 says number not available.
Can somebody tell me what these phone numbers are or has anybody else been getting the same phone calls.

Thank you.

When you receive a call from a UK landline or UK mobile phone your caller display will show the number that called you unless they elected not to show it.

If you receive a call from any other type of line, the number you see on the screen is the one that the caller programmed in for you to see.

In the case of a legitimate business it will be the number for their head office, inbound callcentre, or somesuch.

In the case of calls from police, NHS and other calls that may be of a sensitive nature it will be withheld.

In the case of scammers, fraudsters, nuisance callers and other junk, the caller display with show a made-up number, a fake number to trick you into believing something about the identity of the caller which is untrue, or random digits. You calls appear to be in the last category.

If you do not recognise a number, never call it back.

I'm taking a guess that the internal extension is 'leaking out' in place of the correct CLI.

I see this occasionally on the network level.

    Thank you for replying.
I was also thinking it could be some firms internal extension line.
I never call back any numbers i don't know. If i don't know a number i google it and then decide if i want to to allow it through or block it.
