Hope this is the correct place to post this but here goes anyway.
4 weeks ago I received a parcel from an online shopping site which had my address but with my next door neighbours name on it (Mr) . I accepted it for them, thinking that it might have been a simple mistake and knocked on their door later to let them know and they happily accepted it from me.
I told them to contact the company to change their address with them and explained that I would not be accepting anything else like this for them in the future.
I also contacted this company and told them what had happened and they confirmed that they had changed the information to the correct address and that it shouldn't happen again.
2 weeks later and another parcel from a different online shopping site which had my address on it but with my next door neighbours name on it (Miss this time) came to my door and I refused to accept it from the delivery person who accepted what I said and went back off with the parcel.
Now today I have received a letter in the post which had my address on it but with my next door neighbours name on it (Mr). I opened it as having looked up the address on the back of the envelope, it was from a catalogue company.
The letter said that they had refused this person any credit and that their delivery would no longer be sent to them and to contact them if they wish to actually pay direct for the items.
Trying to work out exactly what my neighbours are up to or are trying to achieve by using my address to register for this type of thing, when obviously I am going to find out and refuse to accept anything sent.
If anyone could give me some advice as to what I should do or to what they think my neighbours are trying to achieve then it would be very appreciated. Just trying to get my head around it before I confront them about this.

It does sound dodgy if more than one company have your address down. You need to speak to your neighbours again and tell them you will be taking further action if they carry on using your address. I don't know if Action Fraud is appropriate for your situation but have a look on their website. In the meantime just keep refusing parcels and contact the companies involved. Have you checked your credit file?0

I just cannot see what they think they can achieve by doing this seeing as they know I shall be refusing all further items, just seems pointless to me.
Haven't checked my credit file just yet but I will do shortly.
Thanks for that, I will check Action Fraud0 -

They may be hoping they will intercept the parcels before they get to your door?
A few years ago I had an irate call from my father in law, he had received debt letters in my name from a catalogue, apparently I had been ordering items and getting them delivered to his address.... I lived abroad and had never ever had a catalogue account... We shared the same intial and surname and someone had signed up using Mrs.....I called the catalogue who insisted it was me but on questioning them further I found out the application had been made online and for the first name they just used our intial, surname and a random date of birth... They still insisted it was me....it took me 2 weeks and threats of legal action against them before they removed it from my credit file ...To this day we still don't know who it was or how they actually took delivery of the Parcels, some people are scum.0 -
Yes that is very possible and that thought did cross my mind but even still its taking a big chance that they will get to the post first and hardly seems worth the hassle.
The first company that I contacted were very good and very thankful that I had reported it to them and given them their actual address and it was them that told me not to accept anything in the future
Unfortunately some people are indeed 'scum' !!!0 -
Regarding that credit file check, sign up (free) for Noddle, or get a free trial with Experian (don't forget to cancel it).0

Thanks for that. Checked out my credit file and all seems as it should0

The neighbours several doors along from me used my address for a few things and I also started to get bills and debt collectors letters. I think they were just thick though because their door number was an anagram of mine (think 231 and 321) and our postcode is the same. I realised that it wasn't deliberate when I started getting RSVPs to their wedding in pre-printed envelopes with my address on."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0
