Yodel delivered parcel to neighbour mistakenly, who now deny having it.

Hi, I recently ordered a new vacuum from very which yodel delivered.
I live in one of 2 adjacent apartment blocks I'm block 1, the opposite block is number 2 on the same road, it is a confusing set up. I saw the yodel delivery driver take a vacuum that looked exactly like the one I ordered to the other block, as she walked up a man was leaving and she left the vacuum with this man. Shortly after I received an email telling me my parcel had been delivered. There was a contact number for the delivery driver, so I rang her. She said oh I gave the parcel to your dad, I told her I'd seen her give it to a man but that was the wrong block and not my dad, she responded by saying its at flat 5 in the other block and if I want it, I should go and get it. So I tried, 3 times. The lady from flat 5 was in, just ignoring me. That evening I sent my mum (yes I told my mum lol) who she spoke to, I'm guessing because she didn't recognise her. She said she knew nothing about a vacuum, and she would have to phone her dad and ask him.
Anyway I've spoken to very who have said they will send the driver back to retrieve the vacuum, but they also said on their system it shows that the item was delivered to me, so I'm not sure they even believe me.
What can I do about this? I'm pretty sure they won't give it to the delivery driver, and that's even if the delivery driver will admit giving a parcel to a random man at the wrong address, who could have been anybody.
Will I stil, have to pay for it? And what should I expect very to do if they can't retrieve the item?
Sorry for the long post and thanks X

You contracted very to deliver to you, the delivery driver is acting as an agent for them so any mistake of the drivers is on very, not you.
Very can be difficult to deal with when things go wrong though. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
I would speak to the person you believe has the vacuum and tell them you are contacting the police and they will need to speak to them because the driver and yourself witnessed the husband receiving it.
Very hopefully will replace the vacuum as the driver was responsible for delivering to the correct address but I'm sure Very will try to get out of it.
Have you told Very and Yodel you witnessed the handover?0 -
Yes I've told them I saw what happened x0

At the moment you are at the mercy of Very...I don't know if contacting the police and reporting a theft will result in anything but it's worth a try. It's a very scummy thing for the neighbours to do and they shouldn't get away with it.0
