BT - Returning Youview box & Hub/Router

I just recently changed over to Virgin Media for phone and broadband. BT have asked for the Youview box and Hub/Router back. Is that optional or will I get a final charge if I don't send them back?
I don't think the hub/router will be of any use. Once I switched over to VM I hooked up my old free view box not thinking that the youview box may still work. My old free view box is just that it does not have the extra features of the youview box. To save me hooking it up again finding it won't work can someone let me know if it will work ok now I'm not with BT.
Thank you very much in advance

I received the same request from BT when i left last month.
I sought clarity from BT and it was a typical BT response. 'We suggest you return the box, but if you don't return it, please monitor your future bills to make sure you haven't been charged for failing to return the box.'
I ended up returning it as it was free and haven't heard anything from them since!0 -
Try your BT users forum as its certainly in the T&C .
But as i remember BT say if you have reached the end of the broadband contract the router is yours . Probably likewise on the TV but TV usually has a different contract length .0
