O/S Daily Thursday 10 March 2016
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them x
Now light, very wet and laying water underfoot but it’s not raining at the moment, it rained steadily all day yesterday, was so dark, damp and miserable.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early. DS1 getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly so he can get ready for school.
Dinner last night was pork steaks, mash, carrots, broc, LO cauli/broc cheese, LO Yorkshires and gravy, apple crumble and custard for dessert. I remembered to get the chicken out to defrost so tonight dinner will be chicken, bacon and mushroom pie, mash, veg and gravy.
I’m now on days’ off and leave, although I’m going to a meeting/training this morning, but then I’m not back at work until Monday 21 March. Work wasn’t too busy yesterday morning as I was doing a slightly different job.
I’ll be heading to the SM shortly, I need to do a small shop so we have food to leave for the boys/to take with us as DH and I are going away in the morning, it’ll be nice to have some down time.
I have all the normal chores to do, but I’m just going to concentrate today on getting the washing, drying and ironing done, food shopping and organising for the weekend. As I’m off next week, I can catch up on the housework on Monday and anything else that needs doing – I’ll be organising a list of jobs that I want to get done too, top of the list is cleaning the cooker, I’ll be putting the cleaner on it Sunday night – so I can get it cleaned off on Monday morning after leaving it to soak over night.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all. A very quick flying visit from me.
One of the DGDs up and watching tv. The other two to waken shortly. Earlier than normal school run as middle DGD has a very early class this morning.
Then it's all dash to get the 9.30 train to Leeds for Mr TA's monthly appt at St James Oncology clinic. It's the consultant, the injection and bloods today so we expect to be there hours as usual.
The girls are back with us later after swimming clubs etc so tea will be something quick I can just throw in the oven, probably pizzas. We'll then be ready for bed before they are as it will be a long day!!!
Must dash. Gentle hugs for HILSTEP. And all else who need one. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning All
Hugs to you hilstep.
BB & MM- hope you feel better soon.
Gers - Belated happy birthday to your DM.
Another lovely day in store (I hope), just about to put the washing out. Cleaned out the wood burner yesterday so the hoover is in pieces drying out!
Nothing exciting here, going to do a shorter shift at the hospice now as I finish work later, shame but I suppose it's better than nothing.
Take care. XX0 -

Good morning everyone.
What a lovely day we had yesterday. The sun was out blazing away, not very warm but no rain. Mum hD a quiet day, she has a gastric bug so we didn't have any fizz and just one piece of cake. Still, it was good to spend the day with her, fielding phone calls and so on. She managed to make me my favourite pork chop too.
Today I'm going on a guided tour of Glasgow Central station, part of my doing something new and different every month. Should be interesting as we get taken down to the bowels of unused platforms and up into the glass roof too.
Hugs to Hilstep.
TA - hope it all goes smoothly for you both.
nmlc - enjoy your days off.
Right, off to bag the shower. Happy Thursday everyone.0 -
Morning everyone!
Hilstep, really sorry to read your news, sending positive thoughts.
After a day of rain, it is dry but gloomy so my washing is now on the line. I have several loads to do but not sure if it will dry so possibly leaving that for now.
New road ahead, I often go to work very early as I get lots more done before other people pitch up.
Am jealous of the steam mop brigade, I am going to save up for one. I could, in theory, go and buy one but what with the car bill and needing to set aside money for a large dentist bill, large bill not large dentist, I cannot justify it.
Ironing not done. I don't iron everything, minimise what needs doing by hanging up immediately but there are still things that need it. I used to iron tea towels, not ordinary towels and not duvet covers, not now though. I used to work with a woman who ironed her knickers, she always looked well turned out but I never saw her knickers and as far as I can tell, unironed knicks don't make a big difference to my overall appearance. Then again, I have spent many years getting in touch with my inner baglady.
Evidence of mouse in the kitchen, must go and disinfect everything.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all,
Looks like a nice day here its a busy client day today wh all need a lot of support so a busy day ahead and short staffed again !
Something and chips for dinner tonight, will go and look in the freezer after this but it will be something quick.
Need to do a wash tonight but that's probably all I will be fit for. Had a lovely dinner at mums last night, home made steak and kidney pie ( I gave my kidney to OH ) and roasties and cabbage and peas and lovely thick gravy, it really was tasty, and we have hm lemon meringue pie, it really was a treat !
Hilstep so nice to see you posting, have a hug my lovely xx

Morning :hello:

I made it to the dog walking meeting, it was in a little cafe round the corner (well, round three corners and across the green, lol). The weather was horrible so I had a feeling there wouldn't be many people – I was right. Others couldn't make it because of work etc. but would like to join in with the walking. I warned of Scampi's bad days, it was only fair to the othersBy the time I'd finished my cuppa, phone numbers had been exchanged so the organiser could let us know what's what. So a bit of a slow start but we'll see how it goes.
What with a dog walk, a meeting (or rather, me arriving back home) and the shopping arriving, I had an excited, bouncy Scampi by lunchtime so I did the decent thing and curled up with him on the sofa for a couple of hours – purely for his benefit of course, lol. I crocheted two more rows of my jumper, at this rate it should be finished by september 2017I couldn't concentrate so put it away and worked on a blanket instead.
The weather doesn't seem too bad today, it's still grey and dreary but at least the wind has died down and it's not raining at the moment. I haven't got anything planned for today, just the usual housework. Must remember to water the houseplants, that job has never become a habit and I have to write it down to remind myself to do it, lol.

Morning all
'Blackun' woke me this morning trying to get into Youngests bedroom. She's not trying to get to Youngest but there's a particular spot where she tries to rake up the carpet. I checked her nails not so long ago. I'll have to check them again. One dog who's nails grow like weeds. The other dog whose fur grows as fast as I can cut it.
Lying in bed this morning till the heating comes on then there's a couple of things I want to do before my Grandson arrives.
The girls in South Africa were invited guests at a charity function last night. I will have to find out how it went. Struggling with youngest daughter at the moment who seems to be struggling with priorities.
Youngest is having issues with an ex that is no good for him. She's an ex and he recons she will stay an ex but he misses her.
Hubby is complaining again about the job. Well if he didn't spend so much on fags and cars that cost a bomb....talking about the car..it's booked in at the garage on the 18th...
Onwards and forwards

Morning everyone,
Very foggy here at the moment but am hoping will see sun later, yesterday stayed wet and cloudy all day.
Took Mum to see the Dad's Army film and she thoroughly enjoyed it as did we, only problem was how loud the adverts were but was better once she turned her hearing aid down.
Last night we had pork steaks with sage butter, YS from Mr Sparks, they were delicious so will keep eye for them again, just not at full price.
Hope everyone has a good day, take care all x
Hugs and well wishes to Hillstep xx0 -
