Getting Pop Ups saying I have Malicious Spyware

Yesterday I got these weird boxes coming up saying download Reimageplus.com as Windows 10 say I had been infected. Also a voice insisting I call toll free. Firefox and E both froze could not even close, had to use icon at botton of page and right click. I have Norton so when to support and the guy took over an hour cleaning it all out. Now working apart from on forum which seems to be telling me strange things. I contacted a mod and she gave me a link to use and suddenly message "Virginmedia customers you have malicous spyware" A box saying install Java Flash. I did neither and came straight out. The forum mod insist they do not have any malaware on the site. Now on a different computer with Windows 7 today, I followed a link to the forum and Windows Defender on it blocked two boxes.

But its so weird it happened when I went on the forum yesterday and also with the link the mod said was fine. Also two different computers.

Advice please and not too much tech speak.

Thank you.

    Hi

What does this mean "I have Norton so when to support and the guy took over an hour cleaning it all out"

You mean someone from Norton/Symantec remote controlled your computer and did something? This sounds highly unlikely to me, are you certain that it was a legitimate Norton representative?

Have you paid for Norton? I dont mean did it come with your computer, because they would not connect to your computer to fix a problem if it came pre-installed.

If anti-virus software comes pre-installed with a computer, it is ALWAYS because the AV published pay the OEM to do that.

Yes, Norton is paid for. I went to support and help through official Norton and yes official representative. They went in and explained every step what was happening. I have the 100% Norton guarantee 360. Actually something happened the other year and I had to do Norton Live Support Help and they fixed it. Same thing I did on Tuesday. You have to sign into Norton, they actually prefer you to go to the forum for assistance. But there is a live Help/Support. He had to clear stuff out and asked if okay?

I ran Norton Power Eraser yesterday and it has sorted whatever was happening. Will keep an eye on it. Actually last week I did something very stupid online which resulted in my bank card having to be blocked and changed. Think it was something to do with that?
