Not genuine copy of windows after updates

Oh dear. Just installed 17 win 7 updates Ok but when computer restarted it claimed the copy of windows was not genuine !

It is genuine, home premium retail, I have had it for about 4-5 years with no problem.

what can I do? Will a system restore work?

any help much appreciated.

I'd have a look at the installed updates (windows updates -> view update history) and see if any failed; otherwise wait 24hours.

    Panic may be over.

Went into control panel to see if I could enter the code any where and clicked on System and without any input it changed to activated.

But one of the updates seemed to have changed my settings as the desktop wallpaper had changed and also the resolution. anything else I do not know.

Edit: Thanks Grumpy, when the updates went in it said it was successful. i am holding my breath now.

Sounds like your display driver was updated at the same time.

Go into Device Manager, do any devices have an exclamation mark or question mark against them?

Find your Display Adapter in the list of devices, and right click and try running Update Driver and see if that makes a difference.

If nothing happens above, it might just be that a new driver has reset the resolution, so just change it back to how you want.
