    What do you currently spend?

What would you be willing to give up?

Personally I need a couple of hundred quite a month on top of my bills: £100 for social life and treats, and £100 to cover the general expenses that you don't keep too much track of day to day. (Unless you're more budget minded than I am)

I retired from teaching at the end of December and paid off my mortgage with my lump sum. I have around £1300 a month after all my direct debits/bills have gone out. That pays for food, clothes, petrol and enjoying myself. It's more than I had while working and is more than enough to enjoy life and have some luxuries. I'm single so it's all mine, lol!

Just a thought to the future. How many years National Insurance have you paid? Is it enough to get the state pension at your retirment age. If it is something you are not concerned about OK otherwise you may want to factor in paying voluntary contributions from your budget.

I should maybe say. After bills (Mortgages, gas, electricity, council tax, factors costs) I'd have about £1200

A lot of people will say of course that's fine. But just looking to get an opinion really and if people think that's enough. I need to stop spending so much on stupid stuff, but if I only have one source of income it will force me to.

£300 a week disposable for food and entertainment, plenty, some people have to live off that for a month remember.

I would say take time off. Financially if you need - go work part time in another job. Best lesson I ever learnt in life was never do a job you hate, spending most your hours a week in a place you hate has a mental effect on you and the rest of your outside of work life.

You live one life, find a job you love.

Run to the future and jump.
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

Thanks for the advice. I feel if I just go a bit longer in this job I'll be set quite well and I won't need any job.

But you might need mental health assistance for the rest of your life, balance how bad it is if it is pushing you to a bad mental place, if not carry on like you said, you hopefully know your boundries ;)

My advice is based on seeing others not recover from MH once the switch is flipped, others can be resilient and bounce back from short or long term, some never recover...money is not worth it.

Maybe a change of employer in the same field will bring much better a place for you ? That could be with less or more salary, its conditions that count!

Be happy(ier) short and long term whatever you choose Trigger :)
