Obtaining Credit Report

Hello friends! I am in need of some advice...

Ok so basically, when I was younger I was pretty silly with getting credit and then not paying it back, I ran up several debts. I was and still am suffering from depression and as what happens all to easily and all too often, I buried my head in the sand and ignored them.

Now, almost thirty, older and a bit wiser, I am trying to get myself together and deal with all of my debts which play a big part in my depression.

The thing is, when I obtained a credit report last time, about 3 years ago, it showed nothing. Now I think this is possibly for a couple of reasons.

1. I didn't and still don't have previous addresses and the dates that I lived there...how do I go about getting these? Who actually remembers!?

2. Is it true that debts over 6 years are wiped out? Majority of my debts will be around 10 years old.

3. I don't think I have been on the electoral register in many, if any of the properties that I have lived in.

So all in all, how do i go about obtaining a complete and comprehensive credit report so I can understand what i owe and to whom?

Thank you for your help in advance.

Which CRA did you check? Did the others show anything? That should be your first action, to check all 3.

Debts aren't wiped after 6 years, but they can be unenforceable if not acknowledged in that time.

With regard to your addresses - I think most of us remember where we have lived. But we can't really help you with that. Could you ask your parent/friends/check old paperwork.
  • I believe it was Experian...I know I didn't do all three because i didn't have addresses and dates.

Of course I remember where I have lived but not the dates, I was fairly unstable when I was younger so had moved a good few times trying to find stability...the irony.

Approximate dates will be good enough.
