Cannot install iTunes on new Windows 10 laptop

Hi all,

AS the title suggests, I have just bought a new Toshiba laptop, a Windows 10, 64 bit, version 1511, x64.

I cannot install (I can download the file) iTunes on the laptop. When I execute the download file, I get this message from Windows Installer.

"THIS INSTALLATION PACKAGE COULD NOT BE OPENED. VERIFY THAT THE PACKAGE EXISTS AND THAT YOU CAN ACCESS IT OR CONTACT THE APPLICATION VENDOR TO VERIFY THIS IS A VALID WINDOWS INSTALLER PACKAGE"

Having looked online, there is a lot about iTunes not installing on Windows 10 64 bit PCs.

The solutions are more or less the same as per the following example link:

http://www.redmondpie.com/itunes-wont-install-on-windows-10-heres-how-to-fix-it/

Hoever, I have tried all the files suggested, and again, although they download, I always end up with the same message as per above.

I contacted Apple as thr dialogue box instructs, however they were unable to help, suggesting I contact Microsoft !

Anyone had this problem (as I suspect I am not the only one that Apple has encountered, despite what they say)?

I have iTunes on three 64bit W10 machines and had no trouble installing on any of them.
Have you installed all the latest updates?
Have you tried downloading it from a different source?

I agree with the post above, if you haven't tried downloading it again I'd delete the file and try that as I've seen that error many times on different applications and it's because the download didn't finish properly (filesize too small) or it was corrupted.

    Thanks everyone.
I contacted Toshiba and they suggested that the new laptop may not have updated properly in the first place and was not allowing Windows Installer to work properly.

After recovering the media on a a USB, I did a factory restore.

That worked, and now able to download iTunes (which was the only thing I was unable to download).
