Majestic wises up, Shell does the opposite

Majestic Wine was the subject of my ire a year or two ago when Flashpark signs went up in the car park of their local branch. I am pleased to report that the Flashpark signs are now gone. Unfortunately for Majestic, I am happy with the online supplier that I switched to so they are unlikely to be getting my (substantial) custom back.

But just across the road (literally) this has happened:

I've had a look, it's a typical PCM UK operation: small white signs with pale green lettering, with the added advantage (for them) that the signs are sited among all the usual service station clutter advertising the car wash, Costa Coffee etc.

The CEO of the owners, Motor Fuel Group Ltd., is in receipt of my letter advising him that, although I have patronised his establishment for literally decades, my two cars and three motorcycles will be filling up elsewhere in future.

good effort. I was clamped by a private company 8 years ago on a forecourt. I'd parked in a bay HAVING FILLED UP AND PAID, and then popped over the road to get dinner.

I eventually paid them to release my car as I wasn't Savvy enough back then...

What really peed me off about Majestic is that Flashpark is a self-ticketing operation so it would've been up to the Majestic staff to do the dirty work. I always found the staff there to be excellent: friendly, helpful and knowledgeable (and also accommodating whenever I asked them if they minded me leaving the car in their car park while I nipped over the road to the chip shop). I'm guessing it is staff resistance that has led to Flashpark disappearing.
