Re-using a Nokia 5110

I recently tried to breathe life back into a late 90s Nokia 5110 handset. I felt it would be ideal for an elderly relative who can't manage most of the more modern keypads.

It hadn't been used for years, and the battery was completely dead, so I ordered a new one for about £11. All worked fine until I had to charge it, and it won't charge using the original charger - the screen just shows "Not charging - STOP".

Does anyone know if this is likely to be a fault with the charger, or the battery, and if there's any solution?

Its most likely going to be the battery as that message usually is related to unable to charge

However if you have a another charger you can try it with that

I don't have another charger for that phone. Would it be worth trying to get a better quality battery? When I got the replacement it seemed you can no longer get original Nokia batteries for this phone.

Might be throwing good money after bad if the phone is dead .

You can get a new nokia bar phone for £20. Don't bother.
