Amazon Fire stick geographic restriction

Hi, Can anyone advise will a UK purchased firestick loaded with kodi work abroad ie Portugal/Spain, as I seem to recall seeing it mentioned some where that the are geographic restrictions on a firestick, or will these only effect the Amazon content on the firestick.
