Which company is best?
It is all very confusing.
I have been with EDF for quite a few years and always found them to be very good. They let you change to new tariffs at the click of a button without any exit fee.
I have been thinking of looking for a new electricity supplier recently as they are not as competitive as some (well according to comparison sites).
However, when you read about peoples experiences with practically every other energy supplier it is very off putting and makes me wonder if it is actually worth the hassle for a saving of about £70 per year.
Do any of the companies really stand out for excellent customer service and problem free switching?

Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time

Zog Energy. Only for gas though.
Very much "no frills", and very reasonable - currently cheapest on my comparison site figures. The couple of times I have emailed them they have been very prompt in the reply.
The only downside is the exit fees for their Mercury tariffs - both 1 yr & 2 yr - £30 penalty to switch - even if switching within Zog. They have a Saturn tariff for those who want to move penalty free (not quite as competitive though). Personally I am happy on my Mercury 24 knowing that prices are fixed for that length of time and I think prices are not going to fall much more.0 -

I'd stick with EDF. There's one enormous plus with this company; they don't report your accounts to the credit reference agencies. Therefore there's very little chance of a trivial mistake either on your part or on EDF's, leading to your ability to obtain credit being trashed. Energy suppliers are notorious for blacklisting you at the credit reference agencies for trivial matters.0 -
