Halifax Loan Insurance

I'm just going through all my credit cards & loans canceling the payment protection insurance so I can take out a separate (and cheaper!) policy.
However, I am concerned that if I ask to cancel with Halifax, I will have to take out a brand new loan to get the PPI removed?
Does anybody know if this is the case from experience or otherwise?
Any help would be appreciated.

Comments

  • The usual procedure is to do a new loan without insurance to repay the old, as the ppi forms part of the monthly payment agreement

however, have a look at your paperwork/policy booklet as they have an address of where to write to now
