    Hi Murphy,

Now booked into Ventura Harbor on the Monday night though and just a little concerned with getting from Knotts to Ventura on a late monday afternoon or monday night.

Ideally wouldn't want to get to Ventura too late in the day as would like to sample some of the local fare.

On this one, someone else is going to have to offer you firsthand advice, as its not an are that I've visited

Well think we've decided to head up from San diego on the Sunday morning to get into Knotts that day so at least at the end of the park day we can head back to the hotel nearby for some R&R.

That leaves us with the Monday to make a leisurely trip from Buena across to Ventura Harbor so we can have a drive around a few places of interest on the way.

Just hoping that these wild fires up near Big Sur are brought under control before we get there else we will have to change the route to get up to San Francisco.

Car Rental - bearing in mind what you were saying about the car type Murphy I'm getting very tempted to go with a Chevrolet Equinox style as for the one weeks hire found quotes of about £140 and it would be nice to enjoy driving a vehicle like that throughout the venture up to San Francisco. Might as well do it in a bit of style for the Honeymoon.

Further advice - going to investigate the cost of a limo ride from airport in Vegas to the MGM. Anyone got advice for that or comments on whether it is actually worth the money>?

Good decison on the car - the cost of upgrading 1 or 2 car classes is quite minimal, and I'm sure that you'll enjoy the extra comfort. Just be aware that if you go upgrade crazy, that a car like a Dodge Durango can have a 5.7lt V8 that will drink petrol for fun :rotfl::rotfl:

As regards the limo transfer, I've never done it, but as long as the cost is reasonable, its got to be a better way that having a minibus transfer from airport to hotel, especially with it being your honeymoon :j

only 6 days to wait now until we fly out. Can't wait.

Have applied through Holidayautos.co.uk to book a car in the range of a Chevrolet Equinox as stated. Might be a little fuel (sorry gas!) thirsty but its a one off and the cheaper cost of fuel will offset it.

    All stopovers booked.

    LV MGM - 4 nights
    San Diego - 3 nights
    Buena Park - 1 night
    Ventura Harbor - 1 night
Cambria - 1 night (Moonshine Landing Inn I think it was called)
    Monterey - 1 night
    San Francisco - 3 nights

Just need to book ourselves a couple of tickets to Mystere before we leave since there's 35% off available at the moment and maybe book the Grand Canyon tour/flight as well and we're set.

Right guys what do you think of this itinery......

    1) Fly to San Fran @ 17:00 Pick up Car and Stay @ Family near San Fran

    2) Drive to NAPA - Stay in NAPA

    3) Stay in NAPA

    4) Drive to Mariposa/Yosemite

If you have family in the US near to where you are going why not ask them?

Why are you expecting us to plan all of your holiday?
