    Hi Shrimply
If there are changes of circumstance, you can use the 'Direct Debit Manager' I mentioned above to take more control. Provided the account is billed up to the latest meter readings, payments can be changed by up to 20 per cent up or down. By up to 5 per cent up or down without readings. Before confirming the new amount, we'll let you know by how much we anticipate the account will be in credit/debit by the time of the annual review if payments are changed but usage doesn't alter as expected.

Thanks Malc, I'm really only discussing this for the sake of it, I understand how companies make the predictions, I just question if really this is the best solution.

Out of interest though, as I said I'm in credit having just provided readings and generating a bill a few days ago. The system won't allow me to lower my direct debit, only increase it. I'm not overly bothered about doing so but either your information isn't correct or my account isn't working correctly.

That's strange Shrimply. Provided the readings were entered within the last 14 days and used to issue a bill, you should be able to change the payments by up to 20 per cent. Either up or down.

Are you trying to lower below the original amount or a revised amount? If you've gone through the mid-point review, it may be we've already loaded in an increase ready for the next payment. Using the 'Direct Debit Manager' will let you lower below the new amount but not the original amount.

Guessing again though. I'll be happy to take a look for you if you drop an email to the address in my Profile. Please include up to date meter readings so I can do a belt and braces check for you.

    Thanks Shrimply.
