As above, my HP laptop is showing 'plugged in not charging' I've checked the wall socket, checked the middle connector on the lead and checked the input bit on the laptop.

At the laptop input for the charging lead there is a light flashing beside it.

Can anyone help with ideas about why it's not charging please?

Thanks - will shut down as I'm at 25% - moving to tablet.

Quick update - I've taken the battery out and restarted the laptop which is working fine on AC power, so I suppose it's a fault in the battery.

    Unless you know different?
  • Without seeing your update I was going to suggest the battery.

Same thing happened with my laptop and I bought a new battery from eBay for half the cost that a local repair shop quoted. Just do a bit of research to make sure you're not buying poor quality.

You can do a battery test by following the instructions from HP:

Both great replies - many thanks. I'm away for a couple of days now so will do the battery test when I get back.

Thought I'd do an update - went away, came back, forgot about the battery, found it stuffed under a cushion, put it back onto the laptop and it's working!

No idea why or what, but just happy that it's working.
