Barcelona....

We are off to Barcelona this weekend.

Any tips about getting around , walking tours, what to see / not see, what to do and what to avoid ?
We are in early Saturday morning and out late Sunday night.

Can't wait to hear what you suggest !!

Thanks

    See all the Gaudi stuff.

Avoid all the pick pockets and muggers.

  • My favourite city!

For me I loved walked along the beach both during the day and at night (although watch for the pick pockets) and also visiting the Nou Camp. You can arrange a tour which is impressive for non-football fans (says my girlfriend at the time). We also managed to find lots small, privately owned restaurants in and around the city which the food was delish!

Watch out for pick pockets/muggers, tell your partner to use an over the body bag she can keep her hands on at all times, steer clear of the stag/hen do's/football yobs mostly around Rambalas.

Look out for off the tourist track restaurants/tapas bars, by far the best food and best value.

Metro works well, you can buy 1 ten journey ticket between you, put it through the barrier slot then pass it back to the other person. it will take 2 journeys off.

Not one of my favorite cities TBH, but worth a visit.

Never saw a pickpocket or mugger and we've been twice for a week each time.
Mind you I suppose it's their job to be invisible.

'Free' Walking tours are great. Just google.
They will take you to the sites from which you can decide which you want to see in greater detail.

Try a Restaurant called 336. Well worth it.

Of course you have to walk down Las Ramblas, better at night, but not really that great.

Tibidabo is fun as is Parc Güel.
To get to Parc Guel take the subway train to Valcarca. Then ask directions to the 5 or 6 outside escalators which will take you to the top of Parc Guel and enable you to get there without mountain climbing.
From the top you can then walk down seeing the Parc Guel attractions on the way.

Of course La Sagrada Familia is not to be missed and you can pre book tickets online which will get you in without queueing.

Some great Tapas bars in Barcelonetta.

Akchewlee I see you don't really have any time there at all.
But it mat whet your appetite for a longer return visit.
It's your money. Except if it's the governments.

Having been pickpocketed 3 times in 4 visits (including twice in a week) I can assure you they are there, although I only saw them on 1 occasion.

Been twice and never had a problem, but definitely you need to be aware.

First time I used the tourist bus and the second time the metro - quite easy to get round. Lovely place.
