I keep getting pop-ups encouraging me to upgrade to W10, insisting that my laptop (Toshiba Satellite C870-198) is fully compatible. However, when I did a Google a few months ago, I saw something to the effect that Toshiba don't support W10 drivers for my model. (Can't now find where I saw that.)
Is there any reliable way to properly check whether my laptop truly is compatible for a W10 upgrade? ... and details of any preparation I'd first need to undergo? (For the W8.1 upgrade, I had to first delete some software for it to work, which I believe was driver-related.)

My C870 works OK on W10.. Don't know about drivers, but can't see a big firm like Toshiba not attending to this.0

Compatibility list http://win10upgrade.toshiba.com/swupdate/modellist.aspx?region=TAIS&lang=en&country=GB
Or enter part number here http://win10upgrade.toshiba.com/swupdate/input.aspx?region=TAIS&lang=en&country=GB
Your part number is, I believe, PSCBAE-01S00CEN which is "not a recognized device supporting upgrade to Windows 10"
If you're happy with what you've got I'd stay with it. Otherwise if you like to play... ensure you have an image backup (and a secondary copy of just data files) then try the upgrade from media. If there are problems - revert back using Recovery option. If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -

Thanks. On balance, I think I'll err on the side of caution and stick with what I've got!0
