Vandalisim

Hi this is my first time on here, but after scouring the web, I can't find the answer I need, and I'm hoping someone on here might help.
Since moving a year ago I've had my car vandalised 4 times; Windscreen smashed £75 excess, a wiper snapped £15, whole side keyed £500 damage, and now this weekend more key damage including a keyed window.
Now, you might think I've done something to p*** my neighbours off but I haven't, they too get their cars vandalised. I live on a university road and the student bar is situated here. it sells cheap booze into the early hours to anyone, including the local idiots, who not only wake us all up with their swearing and singing but often cause the damage to our cars. I have a BMW, and this weekend as well as the damage to the car they had written BMW C**** on my window. (Nice!)
As well as the above, I've had other things broken like my fence, bins tipped up and often my wing mirrors and wipers are pulled out.
As a single parent, I can't afford to keep paying out for the repairs. My insurance excess is £300 and if I claim my premiums go up... And why should I pay for the damage these drunks cause. so does anyone know if I claim this from the student bar or who else might be liable to pay?
There is no CCTV and no street lighting, something the local police who are extremely helpful are trying to sort out.

The student bar isn't directly responsible for the behaviour of its patrons. And for the past damage, there's probably not enough evidence to work out who the criminals are. I reckon your only change in future is to try to capture any further incidents on a camera of some sort.0

How do you know this, have you seen them doing it?
And no, the bar won't be responsible. Whoever is causing the damage is responsible.0 -
Yes, we have often been seen 'people' tampering with the cars, but by the time the police are called or we get out there, they are long gone.
I know its a long shot but I'm fed up of paying for someone else's mindless violence.0 -

Can you put up some sort of gate / fencing / garage / cctv so they can't get to the car? Or see if there are any local garages for rent to store it in?
Are you renting, or do you own the house, as that might change your options a bit.MFW OP's 2017 #101 £829.32/£5000

The student bar might not be directly responsible, like Esuhl says.
But the licensing authorities will take a dim view if the patrons of the bar are causing a nuisance to neighbours. They may wish to bring last orders forward from 1am, say, to 11pm, for example. They may also insist on security on the door, to minimise disruption both within the bar and in the immediate vicinity of it. Or they might insist on CCTV being installed. Or all three !
The Police might be able to take this forward for you all ... if they've had a whole load of vandalism issues reported, the Police could raise it with the licensing authorities on your behalf.0 -
I honestly can't imagine why anyone would keep a BMW or any other high-end car on the street, and certainly not in a street that drunk students walk down.
Get the car off the road, either get a driveway or if there's no space rent a garage. If none of those are affordable then I'm afraid it was an odd decision to buy a BMW. If you want a high end car that people will notice then a garage is a cost that comes with it, like insurance.0 -
If this is happening repeatedly to your property and that of your neighbours, contact your local councillors and your MP.
If there is persistent trouble then the licence could be withdrawn, or as another poster says, the opening hours could be curtailed.
Log all incidents for the police.
When you say a student bar, is it an official student bar (on university premises)? If so, then contact the university authorities. They won't want to have trouble with the neighbours.Grocery challenge 2017 January £158.74/£200

Exactly this - A bar in a town where I lived many moons ago lost its licence due to the behaviour of the patrons after they were leaving.0 -
Is there somewhere you can park your car that isn't on the thoroughfare home?
I know you shouldn't have to do it but it might be better. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0
