Lloyds Gold to Club Lloyds

I'm a bit confused - if I upgrade from a Gold account that we do not have to pay for (had it forever) and move instead to Club Lloyds, do I have to pay a fee? We do pay in more than the required £1500 per month and have 2 direct debits, so shouldn't pay the club lloyds fee - but on reading the blurb it seems we keep the insurance benefits from the Gold account and lose the fee waiver?

I wouldn't go to the appointment with the bank as I didn't want the "let us get our hands on your savings" sales pitch!

    Correct

The appointment will probably be conducted completely differently to the way your expecting.

Somebody I know managed to convert a different Lloyds account to Club Lloyds without any pressure about buying investments or any other products.

Someone did phone the day before the appointment to check what the purpose would be, but this had no hard sell either, probably just called to help decide which staff member to delegate.

So it will cost me £12.95 a month, but I keep the benefits that I currently get for free and in addition get a magazine subscription, or free cinema tickets, or a discount card for restaurants - all to get interest on up to £5k.

    No thank you.

Thanks very much for your replies - much quicker than a selling interview - I have been to those with Lloyds before.

I will now look for a new different bank account and move - we're quite happy to give up the Gold Account benefits as we don't use them

Open a new account for the clubLloyds benefits and leave the Gold account as it is.
Just cycle £1500 from one account to the other and move 2 d/d's to the new account.

That would just be to check that the appointment that had been booked was appropriate and you weren't booked with say, a banking advisor to discuss applying for a mortgage.

I've had a Gold Account forever as well but pay £12.95. How did you get around the fee?

Probably has had the account for donkey's years and keeps a minimum sum in it to get it free. It is no longer available (and has not been) for many years.

Quite right - sorry I missed the earlier question and thanks for stepping in and answering
