Issues with Halifax

I'm new here so I apologise of this is the wrong place to post.

Can someone PLEASE help with understanding what's going on with my account?! Couldn't log in to online banking to check if my £30 refund had credited so I used my debit card for £30 and it went through. Logged in an hour later to find available balance nil, 0.00. No pending transactions either like there usually would be. Called and was told I had no money (it hadn't gone it at all yet) but was worrying as I could use my card when I had no funds. It's an easy cash account for a good reason by the way...So no chance of overdraft anyway but I tried it for £30 again when on the phone and it went through! He said the maintenance may have affected this (Sunday at about 4am I called) called back yesterday and the lady told me I'd forced my card through (she had no clue what she was on about to be honest) I kept trying my card again and again and it was being rejected (phew) She said there was a problem with Visa, they're declining payments when customers have money which isn't even the case for me. Said it'll all be sorted by today. It still says the same, 0.00 I'm awaiting a refund of £30 off of a company and its not credited. I'm worried now because A, I used £60 and no idea what's happened, B, my refund hasn't credited and C, I get paid on Wednesday and I'm not sure it'll even go through!

Very very stressed indeed :(

You haven't said who you're paying, however I think it's likely the payments you made weren't being processed in real time and were queued to be processed later.

You shouldn't be able to create an overdraft on an Easycash account. The table here lists fess for doing so as 'Nil'.

There is a £10 fee for refusing a payment, however that's likely to be for refused Direct Debit and Standing Order payments.

Q1. If you could not log into online banking to check your balance, why did you not use their phone banking or check the balance at a cash machine before using your debit card?

You knew there was supposed to be no overdraft facility on this account and there still was no money in the account.

Q2. Why did you try to spend £30 again? If you just wanted to check to see if you were able to spend without an overdraft, why did you not just withdraw the minimum amount from a cash machine or buy a packet of sweets with your debit card? Both of these are less than the £60 you are now worried about.

I do. Somebody with no money, spent some. Now they want to blame the bank.
