Although still in my switchover grace period to NP, I am getting worried. It was the price per KWh and that attracted me but uSwitch also reaffirms it is the most popular deal by farin any case. Can someone tell me why this is despite the fact that NP is one of the worst suppliers reported.

Have a look at the NPower Feedback thread. NPower's deals do not feature high on my comparison list but I appreciate that usage and areas differ. Have a look at Zog for gas and GBEnergy for electricity. Zog has just reduced it gas price and the fixed tariff also has a very low standing charge.
FWiW, NPower was 22/22 on Which's latest customer satisfaction list. Both USwitch and Which cannot both be right.

Well, NPower signup are proving otherwise as USwitch rates it as the most popular (for some unknown reason). Since the negative newsbite, my anticipation of a good deal (and hence relationship) with NP is now mired in permanent doubt, so I will cancel and look at those providers you have listed.0

I have had two properties with Npower in the past. I have changed both now. When you ring or "chat" with them in India they sound very good. Unfortunately when the contact is finished they usually take no action at all.
My last move was to Scottish Power where I stand to save £80 pa. They also have a three star rating but the call center is in Scotland so I am told.

NPower's call centres are UK based and I have always had any problems sorted, often with compensation (unasked for).
I've been with them for years as the 'saving' to go elsewhere has been small and not guaranteed as usage can change.
I also liked the fact that you could leave or change tariff , penalty free, but that appears to have changed recently, so I may be moving (subject to looking at other offers).0 -
I have had to call Npower a few times over the last year for a relative and it has always been a UK based call centre. They are very helpful on the phone but they don't always action what they say they will do and one switch of tariff left no direct debit being collected for 5 months.0

That's a fair summary of my experience too. They constantly mess with the direct debit or don't change it to the amount that was agreed, but otherwise they've been fine. I preferred EDF, but they're no longer price competitive for me.0 -
Consider Npower dumped for the time being at least. Cancelling my switch later today...0
