In answer to Adrian ... At a guess the individual insurers who insist on standard data collection items guidelines (as agreed and laid out by the Association of British Insurers) if they are going to permit agregator systems and intermediaries to distribute their products.

I long ago learnt not to get involved it 'that's not logical' arguments in the finance sector, my job is to identify the rules/requirements, work out how to best work with them and set up our processes to best do so.
