Checking out Android apps for daily budgetting.

I have spend a year using the 'piggy bank' system, it has worked really well. This year I really want to save some money. After completing Martin's budget planner for this year, I have £2 left over at the end of the month, so I am trying to tighten up on how I spend money.

So I don't really know exactly where every penny goes. I have installed 4 Android apps onto my phone, which is a Vodafone Smart Ultra 6.

1. Spending Tracker, MH Riley Ltd
I have used this before, but not very consistently.

2. My Budget Plan, Baby Smile

3. Money Moni, eBeyonds

4. Monefy, Monefyapp

I have 4 budget items that I use cash/debit card for during the month.

The first thing I have had to do is set up four separate accounts in each app and set up the income for the month for each account. I have then added the expenses from over the weekend.

Spending Tracker
It was quite easy to set up the accounts and expenses. I am not sure how easy it will be when I am actually in a shop, paying for something.

My Budget Plan
I had trouble with this one. The app seemed to lag behind and often the buttons were unresponsive. I entered all the expenses and on the banner it said the right account, but when I finished I had all the expenses on one account. Then I couldn't work out how to delete the wrong ones, so I had to delete the whole account and start again.

I will hang in there, but I am not in love. The graphics/pie charts are clear and detailed, but I can see me 'cocking it up' when entering an expense in a shop.

Money Moni
It was quite simply to set up the accounts and add the income and expenses. It has a blue icon and red icon at the top for income and expenses, which makes it easy to manage.

However it shows all the accounts together, so I don't see each separate account

Monefy
I am really liking this one already. There are 2 quite large + and - icons for adding expenses and income. The accounts were easy to add with income. It is easy to change to view different accounts. And it is all with icons, which is a big plus for me. I feel this one will work well in the real world.

So Spending tracker and Monefy are in the lead at present. I am going to try really hard to use them all for the rest of the month and update this thread to let you know how I am getting on.
