Business Bank Account

Hi,

I've been trying to open my first business bank account for the last three weeks.

I completed all forms online. I proved my identity by associating the business account with my current account. Both accounts with HSBC. Since then it has taken HSBC 3 weeks and I still don't have a business account. Is this kind of delay usual?

When I ask them why they say they are waiting on internal checks. They are unwilling to specify what kind of checks. They are unwilling to give me any kind of estimate of how long this process might take!

I know it can't be a credit check as they are near instant and I have a good credit rating. I've never been bankrupt. I have no criminal record or terrorist or extremist affiliations. I can think of no reason why this simple process should take 3 weeks and counting!

Any ideas?
