I have just done a pension forecast for myself and OH and he has some gaps in NI contributions due to changing jobs and going from self employment, caring etc etc they want over 5k back payment to put his pension up £25 per week !!!!!

Not a bad amount, he only needs to be claiming his pension for 4 years to come out on top. I know its a whole big heap of cash, but in the long run, it could be worth finding.

I did mine last week and I have 39 years and I will get about £135.00 per week ( I have a small private pension ) but if I pay in another 4 years it will go up to full amount. Which I dont understand. I have 2 years with shortfall but its only about £70.00 to pay .

I would pay it then coz you will gain £20 per week for a £70 outlay.....sounds like a deal xxxx

I personally don't think its worth it as he can't reture for many years and is not in good health now so it might not be worth it at all :(

Yes, that is what makes it hard. Its all one big gamble really, but you are obviously in the best position to work out the best route to take.
