Evening all, just had eldest child on the phone, I think even she is now exasperated by how much the wedding is costing.
They have to have an interview and a lot of paperwork filled in to validate their identity etc - not heard of this before. This is something to do with making sure they are uk citizens and not already married etc and fortunately they can have it done local to them but this going to cost £75!
Then to get the cellibant to come out is going to cost over £500  I don't know why we had about £200 figure from but that was way out.
The worst bit is the evening entertainment and DJ - they all seem to have a local agent who adds on another 20%. Even though they only do short stints with the iPod in the middle they are all charging over a thousand - the last quote she got wanted £1200
- its a pity neither side have any Scottish connections, I think a ceilidh band would be a cheaper option
Then there is the dress
The only thing that seems to be coming in slightly under budget seems to be rings and even that is
She is sending me her spread sheet tommorow although I don't know what I am supposed to do with it apart from fall over with shock. Anything I can suggest won't make much difference to the figures, I don't think she has taken up any of the things I've suggested anyway
Deep sigh
You have my sympathies. We started off quite well but when we got to the chocolate fountain at £200-plus for the evening, I nearly passed out.
Yes, it was a centre-piece (though certainly not the kind of thing I'd have chosen.) Yes, it was lovely though somewhat messy. Yes, the guests enjoyed it. Yes, it was the only dessert in the evening buffet as I recall, so per head it wasn't too bad.
But the waste - all those unused strawberries and other fruits - was a tragedy.
The problem with the evening part is many of the guests will have already enjoyed a large lunch reception so won't tend to eat as much as they would otherwise. But then they get counted again for the evening catering.“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”0 -

I am watching it
Can't pay, we take away next.
Those numbers on the tv are not made up.
It costs about £3000 to evict, solicitor fee, court fee, bailiff fee.
That is uncontested.
If contested add the cost of a barrister.
It costs more to pay to chase the debt, than the debt is worth, with no guarantee of recovery.
Add the cost of bringing the property back to standard, easy £10,000 out of pocket.Back to square one, no apg, no comment.0 -

Been busy bringing up kids, working etc, so in the main can convince myself that everything is fine. New Years Eve seems to be the worst time for me, I get really upset as it just brings home to me each year that actually I'm on my own. I miss hugs, another adult in the house, someone asking how your day has been, someone to share the decision making etc. Am feeling even more aware of it now as kids are growing up.
I wonder if it gets harder as you get older LS as you get more set in your ways and maybe not so keen to share your space. I think it could mean compromise which could be disruptive to your routine ....I'm not meaning you directly just people generally......I think it would be really hard but obviously so worthwhile if you found the right partner:)To do is to be. Evening luvlies been out all day, just catching up - good to see people have been busy with glitches
. Am I right in thinking the APGs need to be checked before 6am to lock them in please? If I was to go out now it would mean I'd have to wait up for a while to check receipts or else get up early and do it
I do the usual cash back apps, CS, COS, Sloppytights but just wondering if anyone does Shopmium? It's in the iOS App Store, thanks to coupon clippers who posted it on FB. It looks straight forward enough and lots of my local stores are included. There's even a £3 referral fee so I may even refer DH:happylove Nanny to 2 Cherubs :happylove0 -
