I'm sorry you lost your dad young too HG x
I was 33, it broke my heart, I was a daddy's girl.
My dad would have done absolutely anything for me except change a nappy for my girls but he was the one who came round and held them as babes so I could have a bath etc. I guess I benefited from having an older dad there that was already retired. My mum wasn't much for going out of her home it was her comfort zone but she used to send him with a pot of lamb hot pot for us. :A

Thanks for those kind words AJ. x
My mum would have fainted over the cost. But I know all she ever wanted was for me to be happy. At first I felt guilty where the money came from but having first the garage done, then the bathroom it has made such a difference to my life and I can't take the money with me, so I am going to enjoy it now. :A
Bless my dad he worked hard for the bungalow, he would have loved that we are getting the kitchen opened up it was something he always wanted to do to his but never got around to it. I thought of him last week as the day we started to rip out the old kitchen was the date he passed away. :A
When I read the thread this morning I did feel a bit sad that I won't have elderly parents to look after in my 60s.I always knew as they were older parents I would lose them sooner but felt far too young in my early 30s when my dad passed away.
I was very lucky to have such wonderful parents I know some people don't mine were not perfect but now I remember the good things so fondly.
I can't see very well atm, must have poked myself in the eyes, they are both watering
You now have the chance that your mum and dad would gave wanted you to have, take it, it's yours from them. From the hard work your dad did right down to your mums hopes and dreams or you in your lifetime X
You no longer need to feel any guilt, there is no need XThere's no place like home
