I can't see any mention by the op of this happening.

The breaking and entering you talk about isn't an offence. There hasn't been any burglary so it's a civil matter and not for the police to deal with.

The OP now reqs a new door & gate, whether they were old or not is neither here nor there, so damage has been done, breaking & entering without a court order is an offence, so I'm not sure you know what you are talking about tbh
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

The gas and electricity was turned off. Why would you need an RGI to relight a pilot light or reset the boiler?

One way to handle it would be to ask them to pay for the fitting of the new doors and locks but for you to buy them, that way you get the ones you want rather than the cheap crap they will give you if you let them do it.

The only offence is a civil one of trespass

There is no such offence as Breaking and Entering, the offence would be burglary.

To be burglary, as well as forcing entry, you must also prove intent to either steal, commit GBH or cause criminal damage.

    None of these are present.

Breaking down the door is not criminal damage because it was done in the belief that they were gaining entry to a dwelling that had a warrant for entry awarded

Sounds like you got yourself some free locks!

In your position, I'd probably just accept the apology and crack on; you're replacing the affected doors anyhow. Mistakes happen.

I'm not sure you do, but then if you do please enlighten us as to which legislation covers the offence you wrongly think has been committed.

    Correct. 👍👍👍

And having entered they haven't stolen attempted so steal or committed GBH.

Well yes, but free locks that an unknown number of third parties have keys to. In my view it would be understandable if you preferred to have them replaced again by a locksmith of your own choosing.

    Correct.

They have tampered with the gas and electricity though..

Anyhoo, i'd give this firm the benefit of the doubt and let them fix everything they can before trying for any legal claims. I would want an independent locksmith fitting new barrels; I wouldn't keep their keys.

    If in doubt... Watchdog?
