When can I switch...?

Hi there
Just a quick question - I'm currently on British Gas Fix and Reward March 2016 which ends at the end of the month. I received an email from BG on the 16th December offering a new tariff). I want to switch to another supplier but don't want to pay the early termination fee of £30. Can I switch now, or do I have to wait till the end of the month?

If your contract end date is 31st March, you can switch now without penalty. BG should have contacted you in the period 49 to 42 days before the end of your fixed term contract.
