Holiday to Marrakech

Hey!

Me and my partner are looking to book 4 nights in Marrakech in April, the holiday itself is coming in at around £567 all inc, but we have never been before, so unsure how much we should allow for spending, tours etc.. Just wondered if anyone could give us some ideas? we would be looking to do a couple of tours, then general wandering around markets etc...
Thanks in advance :)

all pretty cheap compared to the UK. You can eat really really cheaply if you want to.

For tours we used Mouhssine at http://moroccantraveltrip.com & would highly recommend him.

We used him first for a tour of Marrakech itself & then for a day trip to Ourika valley. On speaking to some other tourists, we became aware that he wasn't the cheapest, however, his car was immaculate & modern, his English very good, & he was also a very good guide & took pride in taking you to some different things (although you will undoubtedly end up at an argon oil farm at some stage)
  • I know that you've gone all inclusive, but try eating in the main square at night for an experience. If you're there during the day you can get a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice for about 30p and it's amazing.

I've also had some of the best massages ever there as well. It's worth trying if you enjoy that sort of thing.

Wondering round the souk can be quite cheap as long as you remember to barter.
I need to make a new list for 2014
think of something to put on it!:rotfl:
Try harder for 2014 as I never managed it in 2012 or 2013

I second the main square. It's incredible - during the day it is virtually empty, then about 4pm they start to build what look like market stalls. Each is then transformed into a mini restaurant. There must be 200 or more of them, each offering different foods, including some rather "unusual" items if you want to try them.

It's after sundown that the place comes alive with the restaurants, market stalls, street entertainers and the like. Go and experience the atmosphere, even if you only have a freshly squeezed orange juice from one of the numerous vendors.

The orange juice vendors are out all day....we've been there before, very early in the morning. The juice is lovely.....they also do other fresh juices.....usually more expensive than orange.

One of my best memories of Marrakesh and i really recommend you experience it, is to get yourself a table on one of the many roof top terraces around the Jemaa el-Fnaa (the square) and have a drink in time for sunset (go early).

As the sun sets, all around the city from the many different mosques, the call to prayer starts up and this haunting sound from the speakers - all out of time with each other - erupts around the city. Its an absolutely amazing sound, a memory that will stay with you, and cheap as chips.

Once the sun has set, the Jemaa comes alive, with stalls, great street food, music, dancing and sometimes fire artists (whatever you call them).

Best tip is to be brave, its very different, try different things and get the most out of the experience.

One final comment, ask before photographing people, some of the stricter Muslim's take offence, even more so with filming. If you have a long lens, its no problem, but up close they are likely to complain.

Hope the weather is good and you have an amazing time!
