Has anyone had defaults removed from their file?

Hi all,
After a bit of a battle with Santander recently, after noticing they'd been putting defaults on my credit file every month for 6 year (!!!!) they've agreed it was a mistake on their own part (long story) and are having them removed. On checking my credit file I've noticed Wonga and British Gas also added incorrect defaults on my file and I've called them and they've admitted the mistake and are having them removed. I'm currently looking to buy a house. My credit rating isn't THAT bad but it would certainly be a lot better with the defaults gone. So has anyone had incorrect defaults removed before and roughly how long did it take?
Thanks
Steve

Tell us a bit of the history about these defaults - you are most unlucky to have 3 companies put wrong defaults on your file.0

Does that matter to as when they will be removed? Example, I was told (incorrectly) that taking out wonga loans and paying them back would help my file. They moved me onto a new computer system and the new system couldn't take payments. Went on for a while till they sorted the problem out and I made payment... no extra charges and no damage to my credit file they said. I called them up, they checked the file, realised it was a mistake and agreed to remove it. British Gas was just a mistake apparently. Called them up and they said I've never missed a payment and said they'd remove it.
So would this effect how long it takes to remove or are you just curious?0 -
I am curious - no nosey in fact -
''Wonga and improve credit rating''
I would absolutely b**lock the person who told you that taking out a payday loan at all would help your credit files. With some financial institutions it is a total no no and the fact you applied will be there for 6 years (not the default)0 -
Yep well I learnt that afterwards sadly but never mind. Unfortunately luck doesn't follow me round hahaha Thankfully the defaults are all in the process of being sorted. The lady from British Gas said although my credit file had two none payments on it, it wouldn't go against me because it wasn't true and I hadn't ACTUALLY missed any payments. Took a while to explain that's exactly what it would do. It was an Indian call centre so I'm not sure she understood how our credit file works. She eventually agreed to remove it0
