Letter before action. I would speak to your local constabulary, while it would never go court as it's clearly a accident it may well but a bit of fire under the companyis toes.

Bit extreme for a cheap blind!

  • Looking at getting blinds/shutter blinds myself. Have ordered some samples from blinds2go, has anyone used them before? We have some lovely plantation shutters in our living room (supplied and fitted) and our bedroom (self installed) but can't really stretch to those for the spare room or nursery.

Quality of blinds can vary considerably, we have had some fitted and bought some from the sheds (or similar) and there is a big difference in the quality of fittings and moving parts.

If you want them to last then I would go for a decent quality blind which buying a £20 version off Amazon will not be. The quote also will include travel to your house and fitting. How comfortable are you that your DIY skills are adequate to cut blinds to size and install them?

  • Another recommendation for 247blinds. We have used them for all our roman blinds in the house and have always been pleased with the quality

Some years ago I found a supplier on ebay that had all the sizes I wanted (long drops on big Victorian bay windows were the biggest issue). I accepted that the standard sizes wouldn't "fit perfectly", but it was so close that nobody but me would know ....

I then hired a good local handyman at an hourly rate to put them up. I was ripping the packs open and handing them to him - he got through with the lot in one hour. It would've been about 12 blinds he fitted, so 5 minutes/blind.

Of course ...the problem will be finding somebody who will do the work; you know how flakey these people can be about turning up to quote, etc etc.

Mine were venetians, I got the whole 12, including fitting, for well under £150 all done and dusted.
