I unistalled Avast, yesterday - in favour of Panda - this has upset my browser settings (both IE and Firefox) in that - when I open my home page (Google) - it tells me :
"There is a problem with this website’s security certificatre
The security certificate presented by this website was not issued by a trusted certificate authority.
Security certificate problems may indicate an attempt to trick you or intercept any data you send to the server.
We recommend that you close this webpage and do not continue to this website."
I have checked the security settings and have even added Google as an exception - but still I have to OK the home page before it opens
What else could it be ?

Is your clock correct? Sometimes a very errant clock makes browsers think certificates are out of date.0

Try changing your home page to something else. If that works change it back to google using a fresh link.0

It sounds like you still have an Avast component still installed, the web browser safety checker.
Go to your control panel and 'Uninstall a program'. See if there is anything for Avast still in the list and uninstall it.
Hope this helpsI don't like morning people. Or mornings. Or people.0 -
and if that doesnt work, use the avast removal tool in safe mode (available from their website)......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
