windows 7 settings help please ?

Hi all,,
when I first had my W7 laptop a few years back - I had an annoying issue, where if I just hovered cursor over a link, it would open the link ( when I didn't necessarily want it to )
At the time I managed to alter the settings to stop this....but cant remember how...
Recently had HD replaced in laptop and same problem again, as I presume its back on default settings..
Appreciate if anyone can advise the fix again ?
