You can decline a smart meter but you cannot refuse a meter exchange if it is deemed necessary.

...I'll wait for them to contact me again -if its anything like last year's leccy meter swap it'll be months before the next contact:rotfl:

Just had a letter from EON re "your meters are being phased out..."
Having read this thread not inclined to contact them to arrange because :-
    1. Don't see the point in having "smart" meters fitted that will need replacing a couple of years down the line.
    2. The leccy meter was only changed last Spring

and 3. The number to contact them is not a freephone number! Why should I pay for the call:rotfl:

On a more serious note, do they keep pressing (ie more letters ) or do they give up if you don't reply ??

    Morning brewerdave,

I can't remember what sort of meter you have :o

Does the letter offer a smart meter? It may just be a case of having a normal meter put in, but then if it was only changed in the spring! I'm not sure, I'd need to see the account.

Is the number 0345 as these are charged at local rate, or might be included in phone packages.

It depends on what sort of meter change you'd need as to whether we'd need to keep on contacting you.

I'm here if you need me to help though :D
