Reducing neighbour noise (thin party wall)?

My house is an old terrace which now I've moved in I realise has paper thin walls (the neighbours must have been out when I viewed!).
They aren't "noisy neighbours" (very friendly in fact) but you can hear their grandchildren playing, them talking, kitchen noise, stairs, their very shrill phone ringing etc quite clearly through the wall (I saw from sale pictures they removed their hallway and live more open plan which does explain things). It is a bit alarming at times as it is like someone's actually in the house!
Not a major problem for most rooms, although I would like to create some escape from the noise for the master bedroom and home office.
I know acoustic plasterboard would be the ultimate solution BUT a. cost, b. in both rooms the party walls have radiators/plug sockets/skirting boards which would need moving given the acoustic panels are usually over an inch thick.
Are there any cheaper, more DIY friendly options to limit sound transferral? I'm thinking wall hangings, acoustic foam, fabrics, screens etc? And would stuffing insulation foam under the floorboards near the wall help? (I'm getting the floorboards boarded over/thick underlay/re-carpeted anyway)

Unfortunately not, if you want to make a meaningful reduction in noise transmission you need to pay £££s.0
