Help with white sheets

Options
I have 2 lovely thick white flannelette sheets that have gone a wee bit dingy. Not grey, but just not brilliant white any more. It says wash at 40 so I can't boil them -- any ideas on what to do? I cannot stand dingy sheets :D

Boil - they're cotton so can stand it... Lob some soda crystals in as well and that should help.

Soak them in Napisan - it always made nappies white again and you can still buy it.

mar you will turn your sheets into cardboard if you boil them. What about dying them. Tie dye would be fun too. You can do it in the machine on a 40c programme

It really annoys me when washing instructions on cotton items say '40 degrees'.

    Wash them at 60 regularly.

LOL kittie I did that once long ago with sheets- and dyed everything else in the house because I kept forgetting they were dyed and putting other stuff in with them!
I'll try a 60 wash and chuck in some soda crystals - thanks everybody!

:) Put them out overnight (sopping wet) when a vicious cold frost is due and leave them out there for 24 hours. Should bleach them nicely.

Can't for the life of me work out why pure cotton can't be washed higher than 40, tho.

napisan or curtain whitener will help.

    Personally, I'd dye them!
