TALK TALK contract issue

I would like some advise on a situation where my mum would like to stop receiving TALK TALK, she cannot afford to pay the £27 a month contract. She called TALK TALK and they have reduced her payment to £25, if she wants to get out of the contract it will cost her £300 and the contract expires July 2017.

The background to this is she took the contract off her son who was paying it for her at the time but said he could not afford to continue paying this for her.

My mum is on disability and has some mental issues and doesn't work. Is there any grounds that she can quit this without paying the £300?

many thanx in advance

No, whose contract is it, hers or your brothers? The contract is valid but you post isn't clear on who owns the actual contract.

No grounds to cancel a valid contract .
Being ill or poor does not give a valid reason to escape a contract .
But i would write a letter to head office asking in view of her situation of they will make any reduction in the amount due .
They are not obliged to but its worth asking .

When did she take start the contract, I'm guessing not long ago?

Can you and the rest of your/her family not club together and pay it off?

If she's not bothered about racking up a debt, stop paying and let them chase her for it. If she can't pay, she can't pay.

Not exactly the best advice is it to just ignore them!

Yep, because it's really going to help a lady with mental health issues to have debt collectors after her!
