Car shop hell!

I brought a car from the car shop swindon in July 14. After everything was signed and finalised and the keys handed over I realised that one of the keys they had given me was not for my car. After raising this with car shop they said that I could order a second key at my local citreon and they would pay for it.

It's 18 months later and after several visits to carshop and citreon I still do not have the second key for my car. Part of carshop promise is that they will provide 2 keys for my vehicle, which they still have not.

Where do I stand legally with this and is there anything I can do?

A year and a half later?! Can you not just pay for a standard key yourself instead?

What are the reasons they haven't done it after so long have you been regularly chasing them both up, what do they say?

I've only one key too my car I just take extra special care off it, keep meaning to get a new one though so I understand it can be a pain. But you've waited a long time I'd be surprised if they did now. Did you have too give the other key back? Was they not swapped by accident?

Do you have a copy of the original advert saying the car came with two keys?

Or does their current, or previous advertising that you have a copy of say all their cars come with two keys?

If not, legally, its your word against theirs, and you're stuffed.

I would escalate within the dealership though - physically go and see the sales manager, he wont like that. And if that doesnt yield a result ask to speak to the Dealer Principle.
  • The cost of the key and fit is £150, I could pay for it myself but given the other issue I had and the service I received I just feel that I shouldn't have to pay for it. Although at this point I think I may have to.

It has been 18months of constant visits and calls to which they keep saying they will chase it or sort it for me, but it never gets anywhere until I chase again.

I have copies of records and the agreement from them so I have proof just seems to be a constant headache.

I shall try another visit. Thanks for your help.

Ask to speak to the sales manager. If you cant get any joy from him or have spoken to him, go above his head to the next level.

    You have been too patient.

Send them a quote and ask them to pay for it within 10 days.

If they ignore you then LBA, and if they ignore that start MCOL procedure.

Was it loaded onto a trailer for you?
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
