Don't get mesmerised by the Cash-back.

I agree. Cash backs are distorting the market. If a supplier can afford to pay a referral site £60 per customer, then that is £60 that could come off the bill. I appreciate that the above is probably a little too simplistic given the low % of switchers and the fact that many do so via the supplier - but you get my drift.

Sadly, it is also true, that when a small supplier reduces its prices, this rarely gets mentioned on this and other sites unless people post about it.

I hope your savings are based on actual kwh consumption and not on estimates.

I trust you've done your homework and checked the tariff rates (both per kwh and standing charges) to make sure that the cost saving are reall and not imaginary

I have, thank you. Did a similar comparison before I moved from Atlantic to Ovo a couple of years ago. After a couple of months I found the initial DD was high so requested a return of the balance and reduced the DD myself online, with no problems at all. The lack of exit fees is a factor too.

I'm not sure how it works exactly but I'm guessing the cashback is part of a customer acquisition campaign and funded accordingly. If the "saving" was applied universally, e.g. to all customers it would likely result in a reduction in profits, or loss for the business.
